High Magnification and Illumination
Dentistry is micro-surgery. It involves the use of high magnification in order to enable us create dental restorations with a precise fit and finish. This level of care is not achievable with the naked eye. In addition to enabling precision, close-up work, our loupes directs a beam of light directly to the teeth minimizing the glare for the patient.
Quieter and Less vibration with Electric Handpieces
Many dentists use air-driven handpieces; though these are acceptable for many procedures, these air powered hand devices have a degree of non-concentricity; their rotation is not perfectly smooth. To accomplish the most precise aspects of restorative procedures we normally use electric handpieces. The results are extraordinarily precise interfaces between your tooth and your new restoration. Our procedures are comfortable to you and when these precise instruments are used because there is less vibration and less noise.
Digital Imaging and X-rays
Radiographs allow us see everything we cannot see with our naked eyes. We follow several guidelines and Dr. Fornetti chooses carefully which and when the radiographs are necessary. These radiographs enable us detect cavities in between your teeth, determine the bone level, examine the roots and nerves of teeth and diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors.
Dr. Fornetti uses Digital Imaging Technologies within the office. Exposure time for digital imaging is about 50 percent less compared to the traditional radiographs. Digital x-rays results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to the patient. Digital imaging can also helps in storing patients’ images and enabling us make quick and easy transfer to specialists and insurance companies.
Laser Dentistry
If you are afraid of needles, drilling or numbness, then laser dentistry is designed for you. Laser dentistry is one of the latest dental technologies in the industry. The laser technology delivers energy in the form of light. For tissue related procedures laser dentistry can be used and most of the time no local anesthesia is required. In cases of surgical [soft tissue] procedures the need for suturing is eliminated and healing is faster.
This kind of technology can also be used to diagnose cavities. It does this by detecting hidden decay in teeth during the initial stages and in some cases the decay can be reversed through hygiene and fluoride treatment and hence eliminating the need for filling.

Intraoral Digital Camera
Most young patients are familiar with the latest technology and are conversant with the high tech practice. Computers and TV screens are their basic methods of processing information.
In this case Dr. Fornetti utilizes the intraoral camera technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. An intraoral camera is a very small camera that allows our practice to view clear and precise images of your mouth teeth and gums. This helps us give you an accurate diagnosis. With these clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by a standard mirror examinations. This means a faster diagnosis with less sitting and waiting for you. This technology helps our practice to save your images in our office computer for purposes of keeping a permanent record of treatments. These images can be made available to you, other specialists, and your lab or insurance companies in print.
